SWIMSUIT PREPAREDNESS MONTH: The 10-Day Bikini Body Challenge

In case you didn't know, May is national "Swimsuit Preparedness Month,” and this frantic fitness craze applies to men and women alike. 

Last year at this time, I plunged right in with my fourth and (hopefully) final raw vegan detox, AND started a kick-butt cross-training regimen with my friend, neighbor, and fitness buddy, Kay.  So while my favorite yoga instructor, Carolina, got me eating healthy, raw, whole foods (and avoiding all animal products, processed foods, and sugar), Kay wrangled me to cross-fit classes and the Santa Monica stairs at 6 a.m. every morning. I received a weekly workout schedule from Kay every Sunday and encouraging emails from Carolina on a daily basis.  With a dream team like that, how could I possibly go wrong?    

My point is, if you want to get in shape, reach your goals, and have fun in the process, get some support!  Join a group, a team, or find a workout buddy ASAP, because summer is just around the corner ladies and gents, and no one wants to feel anything less than confident in a swimsuit.  So if you don't want to be a pool party pooper and beach bum wallflower, you've got to get your butt in gear today—and you’re not the only one who needs to start your summer shape-up routine, so do I!

Rather than spending the rest of summer trying to get into shape (like I did last year), this time around I've just enrolled in my own personal boot camp, and the best thing about this boot camp is I don’t have to wake up at 5 a.m. to do push-ups in the park!  For the next two weeks, in addition to my usual weekly workout routine, I'm adding a 20-minute high-intensity workout I can do from home.

I'll be tracking my progress and blogging about it, and best of all, rather than having just one accountability partner, I have all of you to keep me on the straight and narrow.  From today forward, I'll be doing “2-a-day” workouts, five days a week, for the next two weeks.  I’m calling it my "10-Day Bikini Body Challenge."  Let's see if I live to tell you how it went!

Today is Day 1 and I already completed my 20-minute boot-camp-style routine at home, and I’m off to my second workout of the day!

LET’S SEE WHAT HAPPENS.  VEGAS POOL PARTIES, HERE I COME!  That is, IF, I make it through the next two weeks.  Stay tuned...
